What were you disfellowshipped for?
by Kristofer ini recently had a discussion with a witness friend (i'm a secret) and she claimed that witnesses only get disfellowshipped for being unrepentant for immoral acts.
i am curious to know from those who have been disfellowshipped, what was it for?

Blondie, no offense was meant, hence the "LOL".
Making light out of a terrible need that he fills. Child abuse. It's gross. My post was meant to lighten the gravity of the subject and in no way meant to demean Mr. Bowen personally. No child abuse isn't funny. But the searching for victims reminded me of daytime lawyers shilling for business.
From Websters:
1 : to act as a shill
2 : to act as a spokesperson or promoter What's the old proverb, if you can't laugh at it, it will make you cry, or something along those lines. -

I'd ask him what he did with the first 30 years of his life. Then ask how hanging out with Buddha is, and if he's learned to reach enlightenment yet. If he had reached enlightenment, I might want to hear what he has to say. Otherwise, he's just another plain old Xitian with issues and tissues.

Gay Marriage Cause No Real Defections In UCC Church
by Enigma One insix months after becoming the largest christian denomination to endorse same-sex marriage, the united church of christ (ucc) reported that less than 1 percent of its churches have separated from the denomination.
the ucc report, issued thursday, noted that 49 churches -- out of 5,725 churches total -- have voted to disaffiliate, and nearly all of those cited disagreement with the ucc marriage equality resolution, adopted in early july.
"the number of departing churches is far fewer than some had earlier expected," said john h. thomas, president and general minister of the ucc.

Six months after becoming the largest Christian denomination to endorse same-sex marriage, the United Church of Christ (UCC) reported that less than 1 percent of its churches have separated from the denomination.
"We grieve the loss of any and every congregation that decides to leave, not only because of the loss of members but also for the loss of shared history, ministry and fellowship." At the same time, 23 congregations decided to affiliate with the UCC during 2005, and another 42 have expressed interest in becoming part of the denomination.
In October the 4,300-member Cathedral of Hope voted to pursue UCC affiliation, largely because of the marriage equality issue. The Dallas-based church claims to be "the world's largest liberal Christian church with a primary outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people." The UCC is unique among many mainline U.S. denominations because individual congregations retain legal ownership of their buildings and property, making it easier to decide their own futures.
Currently there are 1.3 million members in the UCC. - From AP Newswire
This just goes to show that the "Henny Penny's" screaming that the sky will fall are just plain wrong. As usual, bible literalists are just wrong. Why is it that they can't accept a larger idea of God. Certainly the god of the Old Testament was far more primative than the New Testament, why can't they accept something larger than themselves? Limited education is my guess. -

Tetra....I'm with you on this one. Some of the advice sounded all cuddly, lovey dovey and whatnot, and certainly one viewpoint but a bit naive IMHO.
LonelySam, you said you are feeling lonely. Hell, it's your nickname too. Guess what? Being lonely isn't a good reason to go out and get a girlfriend, get engaged, then married, then start popping out kids. You haven't left the Borg yet. You have layers to peel back of "issues". Does that mean you should be alone? No. But I think the biggest disservice being a JW is that it doesn't give you a chance to have practice runs at dating. Usually the first Witnoid you date is the one you marry, regardless of if you are really compatible or not. You need to figure out how to be happy on your own before you can be happy with someone else.
So many people think that they are unhappy, and would be happy if they just met the right person. That's like going out and buying waterskis before you can afford to buy a ski boat. Find your own happiness first and foremost. I'm a firm believer that no one should get married before age 25. You will change so much from now until age 25, if you settle down now, you'll be having your first divorce at 23.
Good luck. Welcome. Now go find someone to practice with.
